# Our editorial commitment

How does Pauline Letters approach Scripture, history, and theology?

Pauline Letters is a Christ-centered learning resource grounded in historic Christian orthodoxy and mainstream evangelical scholarship. We explain our convictions, identify significant disagreements, and invite readers to inspect the sources supporting each claim.

## A clear Christian starting point

Our purpose is to help people understand Acts and Paul’s letters, examine their historical setting, and encounter their testimony about Jesus Christ. We affirm the central Christian confession of Jesus’ death and resurrection rather than hiding it behind a claim of religious neutrality. Visitors do not need to share that confession to use the sources, ask questions, or examine how an explanation has been reached.

## Separate different kinds of claims

A biblical text’s statement, a historical reconstruction, a theological interpretation, and a later tradition are different kinds of information. We label those differences and preserve meaningful uncertainty. An inscription may illuminate a title or setting without proving every event in a narrative. Agreement between accounts needs examination of possible dependence as well as correspondence. Clear distinctions make historical arguments more useful and prevent illustrations from pretending to be evidence.

## Conviction with fair description

We work within historic Christian orthodoxy and an evangelical approach to Scripture while explaining substantial Christian and scholarly disagreements accurately. Institutional doctrinal statements can clarify a position, but they do not replace evidence for historical claims. Biola is one relevant example of an evangelical institution; neither it nor any named scholar or teacher has thereby endorsed this site. We do not invent agreement or portray every competing interpretation as fringe.

## Sources, corrections, and useful reuse

References should allow readers to locate the passage or source supporting a claim. Quotations must be verified and respect the edition’s rights; generated illustrations are identified as illustrations. Dates, route diagrams, and character scenes must preserve the difference between evidence and reconstruction. We welcome specific corrections with supporting sources. Resource reuse terms identify original material separately from third-party work, so learners and teachers can share responsibly without losing attribution or qualifications.
